Nomination process

The lead agency has been identified, but no public process has been published yet. Contact information is below. See how to advocate for what to do while the process develops.

DCCED is Alaska's confirmed lead agency for OZ 2.0. The state did run a formal public notice and written-comment period — a "Proposed Statewide Economic Development Opportunity Zones 2026 Map" — published around April 16, 2026 with comments due April 30, 2026, but that window has closed and no successor application or portal has appeared. Email dcced.commissioner@alaska.gov today — that is the general commissioner's inbox, so address your message to the economic development staff and ask specifically who is coordinating OZ 2.0 nominations and whether late input is still possible; attach a one-page summary of your eligible tracts and their development readiness. With only 32 eligible tracts statewide and a minimum designation floor of 25, Alaska's choices are unusually constrained; watch the governor's office for any executive order or RFP that formalizes the selection process before the July 1, 2026 federal window opens.

Eligible tracts with CRA designation (LMI or distressed/underserved)

Banks earn CRA credit for investing in low- or moderate-income tracts (Track 1), and in non-metropolitan middle-income tracts officially designated distressed or underserved by FFIEC (Track 2). When an OZ project sits in a CRA-eligible tract, bank capital can satisfy CRA obligations while generating OZ tax benefits. How CRA and OZ interact →
